About me ...
My name is Piotr Hosowicz,
I am 30+ years old systems administrator.
At present I am having some rest,
I am doing things that I haven't had time to do when I was working and
I am lazily looking for a new job.
Until recently I have been working for PTC (Era and Heyah brands) cellular network company in
Poland
as a UNIX Administrator.
Previously I have been working as a systems and network
administrator for eCard S.A.,
a leading polish eCommerce company, dealing with online payments.
I use various operating systems, but my primary
OSes are currently
Sun Solaris and
Fedora Core Linux /
Red Hat Enterprise Linux /
CentOS Linux.
Among Linux distributions I also have experience with
LEAF (Linux Embedded Appliance Firewall),
Debian GNU/Linux and
Gentoo.
I am a Red Hat Certified Engineer
and also a Linux Professional Institute Certified Administrator (Level 1, Level 2 as time permits, I hope I pass the exams soon).
I have also some experience with
IBM AIX and
HP Tru64 Unix.
I used to program quite a lot in
Borland/Inprise/CodeGear Delphi IDE.
Since year 1999 I am involved some way or another
in organising annual
Delphi Programmers Jamboree.
At present it is because of inertia and sentiment.
Now I program in bash, PERL, PHP, Python, C mainly for administrative
purposes, but also for experimental ones.My non-IT hobbies are: playing resophonic guitar, listening to music (jazz, blues, hard rock, metal, choir, art-rock, jazz-rock). I also like reading books (mainly historic and SF) and taking photos.
I plan that this website will be devoted to IT/tech writings. I bought the domain about two years ago and managed to create THE website, but when the progress was about 75% I felt tired of it. Then an "under construction" period lasted for two years. Now I plan to create the content by evolution, not a Big Bang sort of thing. So expect this place to grow.
Above is my portrait, taken while contemplating in the server room. The device on my head is The Cozmic Background Radiation Concentrator®. Made of ordinary cable straps — Great Inventions are simple.
